The End the Silence Team
Friends since childhood, Margot Martin and Emily Monroe teamed up to create End the Silence Campaign, a grassroots project designed to bring light to the painful issue of sexual violence and the silence that surrounds this unfortunate truth. Joined by their personal survivals of rape and their long friendship, they combined their skills in an effort to help other survivors discover their voices and share them with the world.
Emily is a writer, artist, and activist dedicated to increasing awareness about rape and sexual assault. After graduating from the University of Pittsburgh with a B.A. in fiction writing and political science, Emily moved to Guyana, where she taught English at a remedial middle school. This experience helped motivate her to work towards fighting the stigmas surrounding sexual violence. This past year, Emily completed the Coro Women in Leadership Program and the Center for Progressive Leadership’s Political Leaders Fellowship. Emily currently manages programs for a local literacy nonprofit.
